Profile no 103. Messerschmitt Bf 109 K-4

Flown by Oberfeldwebel Friedrich Scheer, 11./JG 53, Kirrlach/Germany, March 1945

JG 53 was one of the few Jagdwaffe units that continued to fight the western Allies. On the Western Front, the German Army was on the brink of collapsing and JG 53 mainly flew strafing sorties in support. During this time, JG 53 claimed 14 victories while losing 26 aircraft with 20 pilots killed or wounded. Friedrich Scheer had 16 victories, including six of the four-engine bombers.
