Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6

This day, the III,/JG 5 participate in their last battle of the war. Scrambled towards Sogne fjord 150 km to the south to intercept a incoming enemy formation. This RAF formation was on a anti-shipping strike to Bremanger with 25 Beaufighters from Dalachy Wing and their escort of 13 Mustangs from No. 65 Squadron. During the clash three Beaufighters went down for the loss of four Bf 109s with three of their pilots KIA, all victims to the Mustang escort who during the fight claimed four with another two probable.
