It was in this macine tat Wickop was shot down and killed after dogfight with USAAF P-47 Thunderbolts over the North Sea on 16 May. By this time Hptm. Dietrich Wickop had claimed a total of 15 abschusse, including ten Spitfires.

Note that this is another profile flown by Wickop during the spring of 1943, the another was published in Profile Book No 3, as profile No 55.
