W.Nr. 10266, Black
double chevron triangle Stab./JG 77, Flown by Major Gordon Gollob,
Oktoberfeld/USSR, 20 May 1942
Yesterday
Delmar from Texas sent me a photo of Gordon Gollobs Bf 109 F-4.
This photo was new to me and had been published in one of Eric
Mombeek's books. As I always try to improve on my work this new
version was made today.
W.Nr. 10266, Black
chevron triangle Stab./JG 77, Flown by Major Gordon Gollob, Oktoberfeld/USSR,
20 May 1942
The
Geschwaderkommodore Gordon Gollob scored his 103 kill in this
machine on the 9 June, a Polikarpov I-153.
After
the dog-fight Gollob was forced the make an emergency landing
due to battle damage.
With
35% sustained damage he thereafter flew in another F-4 Trop marked
NJ+UW, previously published here.
