This profile was orignially included in my profile book No 8 as profile No 114. This profile was a left-hand side profile and then based on a number od B/W photos taken by US soldiers after Sandtner has landed his Messerschmitt.

However a color photo of its right-hand side of this machine has emerged Therefor I simply have to use this information to make an updated new profie of the G-14/AS. Please compare this version with the one I made using just the B/W photos. I really got close picking the true colors in my first try.

Here follows the caption published in my Profile Book No 8 "Axis Fighters":

During the last day of the war 30 Croatian aircrews with their planes deserted from the airfields around Zagreb and surrender themselves to the partisans. By doing so they hoped they would save their lives.

However If they in the end manage to save their lives is uncertain to say the least. Considering all the mass executions that follows Tito´s victory a repressive conduct that surpassed all other revenge measures of the victors in Europe, not only quantitatively but also in brutality.

The executions, in the name of the "People´s Liberaton Army" was carried out without any regards for personal guilt or innocence, were of a mean of eradicate the Croatian intelligentsia but also to extinguish any ideas of a future independent Croatian nation.

One of the pilots that manage to save his life by defecting to the Allies and not to the communists were Fw. Vladimir Sandtner flying this "Black 4". Taking off this day with Josip Cekovic from Zagreb he instead land his Messerschmitt at Jesi 15 km inland and to the West of Falconara where his colleuge Cekovic touch down his crate.
